Hello everyone! I recently was asked....."what will you be selling at NOR?" Well......to that i answer this:
I want NOR to be a creative space that houses local recycled art. Art work made mostly of recycled things. I don't want it to be a junk or an antique shop, though it may have elements of both in it. I don't want it to be a novelty shop where you can buy $1 pieces of plastic. Instead this will be an all recycled, all local artist, shop. There are organizations that promote 'local' businesses, which in effect promote local economy. However, how are you helping the 'local economy' when you are selling things from other countries? (i.e. china, Indonesia, Taiwan, etc.).
My thought is; local artists making recycled art use things from the surrounding area and sell locally. Some one buys their product and the money goes to the shop owner & artist, who in turn continue to produce/sell art from local artifacts and spending their money around town...you got it....locally! So this is my idea of keeping our money TRULY at home.
With that all said.....please take a look at my progress in......'the basement' :)
Here we see that i have finished putting the pallets on the walls and started to paint. I realized that i think i'm going to take the pallets down and paint the walls behind it black. If you have ANY thoughts on that please let me know. I would value your opinion as an outsider. And don't worry.....the pallets are not hard to take down. It was cutting them to fit that was a bitch :)
These are the stencils i'm going to use on the pallets and front door. I'm going to do a light tan as the background and then a dark brown as the stenciled part. Still deciding on how i'm going to stencil. I may use a roller, or a paint brush OR a spray can. Any thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated as well!
This is the new sticker on the window. I will be making up the banner soon! I just have to find time to design it.

I just purchased a double sink with a stand. This thing was RIDICULOUSLY heavy and the guy i picked it up from asked me how i wanted it on the truck, lifted the whole thing up himself and put it in the back of my truck. After watching him do that....i was like "oh....this will be cake with 2 people!" About 1 hour later Mat and i had taken the thing apart and moved it in side the store! Geez!
I have SUCH a cool idea for this!
So that is it so far. I will be working hard on it this coming weekend, May 29 and 30th so i can try to get stuff done! Please feel free to stop buy.
Talk to you soon!
